Adolphus Forester was the son of Edward Forester and Elizabeth Satterwhite.  He was born April 4, 1868 at Rising Fawn, GA.  Adolphus married Exir Emma Mosely on September 16, 1894.  She was the daughter of E. Crawford Mosely and Priscilla Parrish.  Dolph and Exir had eight children and thirty-eight grandchildren.

Their oldest child was Charlie, born August 1, 1895.  No further information is available on him.

Purdle Daniel Forester was born March 7, 1898.  He married Ethel Hurst and they had one child Estell.  Ethel died and he married Onie White on December 20, 1930.  They had five children:  Carl David, Mary Elizabeth, Virginia Ruth, Troy, and James Forester.  Purdle died May 19, 1973.

 

Fannie Jewel Forester was born November 13, 1901 in Rising Fawn.  She married Claude E. Maxwell, Sr. on October 22,1920.  They had four children:  Melba Lorena, Claude Edward, Jr., William Foy and Mary Emma.  Fannie died December 25, 1958.  She and Claude are buried in Chattanooga Memorial Cemetery.

 

Laura Mae Forester, b. April 15, 1905, married William Roy West on September 18, 1921 in Dade Co.  Roy was born William Leroy Mullis on August 25, 1903.  He was raised by his aunt and uncle William J. and Martha Mullis West after his mother’s death and he changed his name to West.  Mae and Roy had nine children:  Jessie Gardner (Jake), Kathryn Frances, William R., Jr. (Bill), James Melvin (Jim), John Wesley, Robert Donald (Bob), Jane Marie, Edward Russell (Eddie) and Layne Franklin (Frank).  Mae Forester West died July 30, 1979 and she and her husband are buried in Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Chattanooga, TN.

 

Winston Cleo (Wink) Forester was born July 2, 1908 and married Thomas Leonard Holder on November 1, 1924.  They had four children:  James Clifford, Charles Leonard, Thelma Aleen and Myrl Adolphus Holder.  Wink was a diabetic and died August 27, 1961 and is buried in the Miller Cemetery.

 

Lester Crawford Forester, known as Punch, was born June 10, 1912 and married Wilma Dimple Steele on May 9, 1934.  They had two children Wilma Ann, who died in infancy and Helen Aleen Forester.  Punch died October 3, 1980 and is buried in the Miller Cemetery near Rising Fawn.

 

Margaret Christine (Tenny) Forester was born April 15, 1914 in Rising Fawn.  She married Robert Raymond (Ray) Steele.  Their children were as follows:  Betty Louise, Robert Louis, Frances Gail, Ann Marie, Douglas Thomas, Emma Sue, and Brenda Ruth.  Tenny died of cancer on November 23, 1973.

 

Ella Aline Forester was the last child of Dolph and Exir Forester.  She was born June 22, 1917 and married Raymond (Kick) Wallin on May 8, 1933.  They had six sons:  Jack, Rex, Gene, Frankie, Gary and Phillip.  Aline died on July 12, 1969 of cancer.  She is buried in the Miller Cemetery.

 

Adolphus Forester died on November 19, 1939 of Bright’s Disease.  Exir died September 9, 1947 and both are buried in the Miller Cemetery in the Cloverdale community of Rising Fawn.  (Much of the information for this article was taken from a family history compiled by Thelma Holder Castleberry, granddaughter of Adolphus and Exir Forester.)
