Claud Milton Evatt was born May 12, 1878, the son of Greenberry Garvin Evatt and Maryland America “Meckie” Tatum Evatt. He married America Emeline “Emily” Whited of DeKalb County, Alabama on Jan 7, 1909. She was born March 15, 1882, the daughter of John Green Whited and Maranda Frances Bouldin Whited. The couple lived near Fox Mountain in Rising Fawn, Ga. They had 6 children:

1.  Mabel Louise Evatt (Dec 15, 1909 – living) married first on Feb 5, 1935 to Maynard Jack Leavitt (Nov 16, 1898 – Apr 29, 1944), married second on Apr 6, 1957 to Maynard’s brother, Lawrence David Leavitt (May 19, 1896 – Aug 7, 1979). Mabel and Maynard had 3 sons: Winston, Charles and Pierce.

2. John Webster Evatt (Nov 11, 1911 – Dec 3, 1952)

3. Lillard Mae Evatt (May 17, 1914 – Dec ?, 1995) married on Nov 26, 1943 to John Lewis Bynum (Dec 25, 1889 – Aug 9, 1952)

4. Claudia Lee Evatt (Sept 10, 1916 – living) married on Aug 24, 1935 to John Marion Eckman. They had 1 daughter, Wanda.

5. Blanche Earnestine Evatt (Jan 25, 1919 – June 9, 1947) married to William Joseph Powderly. They had 2 sons, Bobby and Jerry.

6.  Maude Frances Evatt (Nov 5, 1920 – living)

Claud M Evatt died July 2, 1958; his wife, Emily, followed him Jan 5, 1964. They are buried together in the Lomenick Cemetery in East Ridge, TN
