Annie Rosa Cox Jenkins

Annie Rosa Cox born in 1886 to William Presley and Sarah Catherine Bradford Cox married D. I. Jenkins. He was from Byrds Chapel. They had one child a son, Otha Jenkins. He died in a freak accident. He fell out of a truck being driven by his father. There was no cab and evidently his father didn’t notice he had fallen out. He had stopped at a railroad crossing and when he started to cross he ran over his son.

Annie was a lovely lady, a homemaker and assisted Ike with his work. He was a farmer, raised chickens and cows. He peddled produce, chickens, eggs, milk and butter. He also operated a grocery store in Rising Fawn for several years. They lived in Birmingham several years where he was a carpenter. Their home was located on Memorial Drive the place where Loraine and John Jones now live.

Both Annie and Ike were active members of the Methodist church.

Annie died 5-27-1967. Ike died in 1952. Both are buried in Hawkins Cemetery at New Salem.
