Mary Polly Cartwright Brown Ketcherside

Mary Polly was born December 24, 1800 in North Carolina December 24, 1800 and she died July 06 1878. She is buried at Long Cemetery in Dade County. She married first James Brown in Smith County TN the children of this marriage are:

Andrew Brown b 1824 d July 29, 1906

James William Brown b 1824 d July 29, 1906

John W. Brown b 1838

Albert L. Brown

Joel F Brown b July 29, 1834 d May 21, 1897 in Texas, m. Lucinda Jone Southern

After the death of James sometime before 1840 she married John Ketcherside. Children of that marriage:

Andrew became a prominent citizen in Dade County. He opened a general store and a sizable inventory was inventoried in his will. He married Martha Jane Cartwright. The marriage produced no children, however they were always extending their blessings to others and at every census there are children in their home. Andrew was a one of the founders of the Union Church of Christ, which later became the Trenton Church of Christ, as well as establishing the Union school on his property. That school has now been moved, for preservation, beside the Dade County Department of Education. He donated the land for the church and cemetery at Brown’s gap. He donated money to the Fannin orphan school in Nashville. His final resting place was constructed as he instructed in his will and it is to the south of his house place, beside the garden spot. The location is on private property south of Trenton, across the street from the Recreation Center and the Senior Citizens Building
