Sarah Catherine Basden was born  October1840 in Trenton, Dade Co., GA. Sarah Catherine died in Marlow, Stephens Co., OK on 21 April 1925; she was 84. Sarah was buried in Marlow, Stephens Co., OK.

Sarah Catherine Basden is shown on the 1850 Dade Co., GA census as age 10; b. GA. She married unknown Rudolph, place of marriage unknown. In 1870 Kate Rudolph, age 30, b. GA., is found on the Grundy Co., TN census with son, Albert E., age 4, b. GA. At this time she is listed with a family named Hoffman. Sarah Catherine never told her family the first name of her husband. A great-granddaughter is said to have found a note from her mother [Ollie] which said, “grandmother told her that her husband left home to find work and never returned.” It is not known if he was a Civil War veteran and to date no pension application has been found for him or for Sarah Catherine. Sarah Catherine subsequently married a man whose surname was Garrett. In 1880 Sarah Catherine Garrett is listed on the 1880 Tarrant Co., TX census, living in a home of her own with only herself and Albert E., age 14. In this census, Albert E’s father is shown “born Jaremany.” Sarah Catherine came to Tarrant Co., TX with her brother, John Henry Basden, and his family in 1874. “About 1865 when Sarah Catherine was 24, she married unknown Rodolph, in Dade Co., GA., born in Hesse Darmstadt, Germany.”  They had one child: Albert Eugene (1866-1938).
