Thomas Calendar Forester was born on September 1, 1807 in Tennessee.  His father was Francis Forester.  Calendar Forester married Catherine (maiden name unknown).  This family was in Dade County for the 1850 census.  Their children were as follows:  Edward, b. @ 1828; Martha Jane, b. Aug. 24, 1829; Scott , b. @ 1835;  Hevelow L. b. May 1836; Elizabeth, b.@ 1838; Mary Ann (Polly), b. 1841; James Knox, b.@ 1845; and Tennessee, b.@ 1848. 


Martha J. Forester married Alexander Hawkins on March 10, 1845 in Dade Co., GA.   Their children were John, 1846, James K., 1847, Tennessee, 1850, Raliegh, 1852, Calendar E., 1856, Francis Marion, 1858, Mary L., 1860, Josephine, 1863, Tippy Bradford, 1866, Amanda, 1869 and William A., 1872.  Martha and Alexander lived in Dekalb Co., AL.  She died Feb. 16, 1898 and he died in 1902. 


Scott Forester settled in Pike Co., AR, where he married Rebecca.  They had children Edward, Sarah C., Elijah, Josephine, Marinna and Isaac G. Forester.


Hevelow L. Forester (named for his father’s brother) married Frances (?) and had children Tennessee and Laura.  He is found in the 1900 Walker Co. GA, census living with wife Hannah (2nd) and daughter Tennessee.


Mary Ann (Polly) Forester married Hiram Smith.  They had one daughter Laura who married Hugh Kelso Allison.  They also had two daughters Mary and Pop Ann who died in infancy.  Mary Ann died June 10, 1873, probably in childbirth.  She is buried at Cedar Grove near her parents.  After Mary died, Hiram married Rebecca Forester, Mary’s first cousin.


James Knox Forester (Jim) raised his family at the Calendar Forester homeplace at Cedar Grove.  According to Hugh Forester’s notes, he had twelve children, but all of his sons died young.  The 1880 census shows daughters Fannie, Martha Ann, and Jeanette.  His mother Catherine was living with James in 1880.


Thomas Calendar Forester moved his family to Arkansas where they can be found in the 1860 Pike Co., census.  He later moved back to Georgia, this time settling across the mountain at Cedar Grove in Walker Co.  He died there on December 16, 1861.  His wife Catherine lived much longer.  She died Sept. 19, 1885.  Both are buried at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Walker Co., GA.
