THE NOEL WADDLE FAMILY

Noel and Mary Waddle came to Dade County about 1844. They had lived in Tennessee for at least 17 years before migrating to Georgia where they left few traces of their lives. Noel had been born in about 1805 in North or South Carolina. Mary was born there about 1805<10. It is possible that she is the Mary Waddle buried at Sarah Chapel Cemetery who died 17 Apr 1865 aged 60 years as some of her known children are buried there. Noel Sr. was probably still alive on Aug. 1, 1867 and is listed as a voter in the returns of Qualified Voters for the State of Georgia, living in Dade County. It is possible that this could have been his son, Noel Jr., who would have been about 21 at that date. The 1850 Census for Dade Co. has Noel and Mary listed with the following children:

1. William b. Sep 1827 TN or SC (believe he is buried at Sarah Chapel but birth date is given as 10 Jun 1841 according to Cemetery Survey of Dade Co. by Pamela Leavitt) d.14 Apr 1902 married @1865 Sarah b.24 Sep 1843 d.27 Feb 1912.

After this date Noel Sr. and Mary can not be found on the census for Dade County. Some of the children had to be in Dade County as they were married here. In 1870 the oldest son William is living in the Morganville district with his wife and two children. In 1880 he is in the Slygo area living near John Gross Jr. with four children. 1. I am pretty sure this is Noel from 1850 Census. Because look who also moved there. Also states just married. Izard Co. became Stone Co. by 1880.
