Mrs. Delilah Wheeler of Trenton recently retired after 37 years as a classroom teacher.


Her teaching career includes two years in Virginia, three years at North Dade School in Morganville and 32 years at Trenton Elementary School.


Seven of the 32 years Mrs. Wheeler taught at Trenton were spent as a Reading (Title I) instructor.


Mrs. Wheeler was born in Blackwater, Va. She earned a two-year life certificate from State Teachers College in Radford, Va., and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Chattanooga in Chattanooga, Tenn.


Her community and professional affiliations include membership in the Trenton Church of Christ, the National Education Association, Georgia Association of  Educators,  Dade Education Association, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Alpha Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.


Mrs. Wheeler was honored upon her retirement by members of the Dade Education Association.


Mrs. Wheeler received a plaque from the Dade Education Association at their annual luncheon in June.
