This church was established in the community by Charles Holder when he held a Gospel meeting which started on September 25, 1937.

Andy Brown Newby, Sr., and family had previously written brother Holder on August 23rd about holding a meeting here and this was the reply: “Dear Brother; Glad to get your letter of August 23rd and the Lord willing, I will be there to begin at Brown’s Gap Sept.25. Trust you and family can attend and we will have a good meeting. I will try faithfully on my part. Please pray for me…Your bro. Chas. Holder John 4:34-35 & 9:4;acts 20:33-36; Rom. 15:20-22” (All this on a post card).

The house of worship was built at Magby Gap, the present location. In later years, classrooms were added and a large acreage acquired for future use. The congregation continues small, but faithfully has met throughout the years to worship and have mid-week Bible Study.

Many fine ministers have preached here, including I.H. (Pat) Wheeler, Emmett Gold, Odell Denton, Haskel Burton and Joe Mayhew.(Used by permission History of Dade County, Georgia, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, 1981)
