MRS. MCMAHAN AWARD WINNER

John  C. Campbell, Chairman of the Law Day Committee of the Lookout Mountain Bar Association, has announced that Myrna McMahan has been selected by the Local Law Day committee to receive the coveted Liberty Bell Award for 1976.

The award is given each year by the State Bar Association to an outstanding citizen of the community.  In announcing the award, Campbell said that Mrs. McMahan was an excellent choice for the award due to her many unselfish contributions to her community.

Roger Auman, President of the Lookout Mountain Bar Association, pointed out that Mrs. McMahan is a member of the advisory board of the Northwest Georgia Mental Health Center, a member of the Citizen’s Advisory Council for the Northwest Georgia Regional Psychiatric Hospital in Rome which serves Dade County, a member of the 7th District Congressional Advisory Committee, charter member of the Dade County Development Corporation, member of the Committee of 100, a Vice President of the Dade, Walker, Catoosa and Chattoga Mental Health Association, a member of the Garden Club of Trenton and the Trenton United Methodist Church.

“More than being a member of the above organizations, Myrna is an active working member,” he stated.

“In addition to her volunteer activities, Mrs. McMahan is an asset to the community through her diligent work with the Dade County Sentinel, as news editor,” Auman said.  “Myrna can be found at all hours of the day and night covering news stories that provide needed information for the community and is always making a personal effort to help in any way she can.”  The Liberty Bell Award was presented to Myrna McMahan in open court Thursday, May 6, at 10 a.m. in the Dade County Courthouse.
