RISING FAWN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

 

Rising Fawn Junior High School was constructed in 1937. The walls of the building were tile with plaster. It was steam heated. The building had 8 classrooms, library, office, lunch room, two washrooms, auditorium, dressing rooms and furnace rooms.

 

Trustees were: J.G. Fotester, chairman, Building committee: R.C. Dawkins, W.R. Hamic, W.M. Wilson, J.M. Murphy, Date of opening was October 18, 1937. Teachers for 1937 were: W.H. McNair, Jr. Principal; Miss Jane Conner, Mrs. J.M. Carroll, Miss Marie Conner, Mrs. R.P. Fricks, Mrs. B.G. Justus, Mrs. B. B. Kenimer and Mrs. O.G. Arial. Water was from Fox Mountain.

 

The school was consolidated with Trenton in 1960.(Used by permission History of Dade County, Georgia, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, 1981)
