TRENTON BAPTIST CHURCH

This church was organized in 1927 by a group of about 25 members, who had previously belonged to the Piney Grove Baptist Church. The organization was after the Rev. Frank Newton, an evangelist of Chattanooga, had conducted a camp meeting at Trenton.

Up until the church members moved into the new building regular services were held in the old Masonic building. The church grew in membership and a committee, headed by Mr. and Mrs. Lewis McBryar drew up plans for the construction of a new building. The building was constructed on land donated by Mr. and Mrs. Lewis McBryar, and the rock used to veneer the structure was hauled from Sand Mountain. The church has a large auditorium and four Sunday School rooms.

Rev. Mack Smith was the first pastor. The present pastor is Rev. herb H. Wilson. (Used by permission, HISTORY OF DADE COUNTY GEORGIA, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, 1981.)
