WORLEY CHAPEL SCHOOL

 

Worley Chapel was a typical one-room school on Sand Mountain. They got water from a nearby well which had a hand pump. This school building burned and Gib Dock Stephens store building was used for a school until the Davis High School was built then the children were transported to the new school.

 

Some of the teachers were: Laura Hartline, Cleo Blevins and Bessie Holder.

 

The first teachers at Davis High School were: G. C. Austin, Mrs. G.C. Austin and Jewell Michels.
