MADDOX HALE

 

 

Maddox Hale was the third child of Aunt Clara and Uncle Shade Hale. He was a lawyer and at one time he was Georgia speaker of the House Pro Tem. He attended Dade County Public Schools but graduated from Central High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Maddox got his law degree from in 1931. He represented Dade and Walker. He was Trenton city attorney and also Dade County. He was Sunday school superintendent of the Trenton Methodist Church for 20 years.

 

The entire Georgia House was bused to Trenton from Atlanta, Georgia for his funeral. He was buried in Lake Hills Cemetery.

 

Shadrach Payne Hale married Margaret Virginia Ashworth April 16, 1937. She was born December 28, 1911, the daughter of Albert Ashworth of England and Daisy McNabb Ashworth of Bradley County Tennessee. Their son Shadrach Jerome Hale II (Jerri) was born February 4, 1940 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was married in 1959 to Freda Dawn Scholsshan. Kerea Janelle was born August 28, 1962. On January 1, 1966 S. Jerome Hale II married Nina Elizabeth Eadon in Manning, South Carolina. Nina is the daughter of Marion L. and Marian Eadon. Their daughter, Marian Eadon Hale was born November 30, 1971. “Eadie” Hale married Jerry Logan Cole, May 7, 1994. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward William Cole.

 

Patricia Elaine Hale “Patti” was born November 30, 1942. She married William Sams, Jr August 19, 1960. Herbert William Sams III was born April 19, 1962. Haley Brooks Sams was born November 11, 1965. Haley was adopted and Mary Virginia Sams died in infancy.
