EDWARD FORESTER  AND ELIZABETH SATTERWHITE

Edward Forester was the son of Hevelow and Nancy Forester.  He was born November 18, 1832 and had a twin brother named Elisha.  The Forester family came to Dade County from Tennessee sometime before the 1840 census.  In the Civil War Edward and Elisha, as well as their brother Joshua served in Co. F of the 23th GA Vol. Infantry, CSA.  Edward married Elizabeth Satterwhite.

 

Elizabeth Satterwhite was the daughter of David M. Satterwhite and Feribe Baldwin.  The Satterwhites came from Harris Co., GA to Walker Co., and then to Dade Co. by 1860.  Elizabeth’s sister Louvenia married Edward’s twin brother Elisha.

 

Edward and Elizabeth raised a large family near Rising Fawn.  Their second child was Georgie Ann, b. @1866.  She married John Scruggs on Apr. 26, 1885 and they had six children:  Leon, Mark, Nina, Willie, Gladys and Hazel.  After the death of Georgia Ann, John Scruggs married her sister Mary, b. @1864.  They had one child, Essie Scruggs.  After Mary’s death, her sister Lucy, b. @1872 married John Scruggs, making her the third sister in this family to marry Scruggs.  They had one child that died.  Lucy outlived John Scruggs.

 

Other children of Edward and Elizabeth include:  John, b. @1855, Elizabeth (Bettie), b. @1858, Elzie, b. January 26,1860, Peter, b. @1863, Adolphus, b. April 4, 1868, James (Jim), b. @1873, Laura, b. 1874,  Henry (Harry), b. @ 1878 and Ella, b. January 12, 1881.

 

Elzie Forester married Naomi Russell on October 19, 1890.  They had three children:  Luther, Bill and Grace.  Elza died August 24, 1927.  He and Naomi are buried in the Miller Cemetery.

 

Adolphus Forester married Exir Emma Mosely on September 16, 1894.  She was the daughter of E. Crawford Mosely and Priscilla Parrish.  They had eight children:  Purdle, Charlie, Fannie Jewel, Laura Mae, Winston Cleo, Lester Crawford (Punch), Margaret Christine, and Ella Aileen.

 

Laura Forester married Oscar Hale.  She died in 1915 and is buried in the Hanna Cemetery.

 

Ella Forester married Asa Parks Fricks.  They had four children, Lunsford, Richard, Ann and Forest.  Ella died July 8, 1911 and is buried in the Hanna Cemetery.

 

Edward Forester died February 22, 1901.  His twin brother Elisha died in November of the same year.  Edward and his wife are buried in the Miller Cemetery (her grave is not marked).
