PINEY GROVE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH

In December, 1884, Jacob Green, born 1819, and wife Stacy, 1826, of South Carolina, set aside and deeded to the deacons of the Missionary Baptist Church at Piney Grove, the lot on which the original church building was built. The old frame building was used for church worship and school for many years.

Victor Quinton remembers his first year school attendance here and his first teacher, Miss Bennie Brock, as well.

The old church was used until 1959-1960, when it was replaced by the new red brick presently in use.

Charles Anderson Quinton was a deacon of the church for some forty years.

His Aunt Luca Emma married Manley Green, son of Jacob and Stacy Green, who deeded the site for the church.(Used by permission History of Dade County, Georgia, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, 1981)
